I am a slacker!

I cant believe how long it has been since I have updated this site. I want to let everyone know how things are going and where they are headed. In the last year I quit my hospital job and began travel nursing. This had always been a dream of mine but I had so many fears. What if I get a flare up while I am away, what if I cant handle it, what if no one likes me, what if I make a mistake, what if, what if, what if. Well, All of those things happened and I survived! So number 1# DON'T LET RA HOLD YOU BACK!

Next, I am on Arava now. I had stopped my meds after starting a plant based diet. I was doing well but slowly let unhealthy foods make their way back into my diet. This is a daily struggle for me. I have a real sugar problem and this is hard on my body. I also developed nodules on both Achilles. They are rarely painful and I can still go to spin class. But they are noticeable at times.

I am getting married in June! Woo hoo!

I plan on updating this site over the summer when I am on school break and adding the many things I have learned over the years.

I will soon be writing about cannabis and RA. I am working on my nursing cannabis certification over the summer. I want to share what I have learned.

RA has changed my life and hardly changed it at all. I live pretty much how I did before RA and you can too. DON'T LOOSE HOPE!

Thank you all for writing to me. Your comments are funny, sad, hopeful, and inspiring. I have the best intentions to respond to everyone but life sometimes gets in the way.

Hi, I’m Sarah (a former medical student) and I was diagnosed with RA 1 month ago after suffering of joint pain, specially in the wrists and hands for 4 months.
I’ve seen multiple rheumatologists (its easier here in lebanon) and they all agreed on my diagnosis
So the big news is that I got accepted in the general surgery residency
I accpeted the offer !
Scared —> yes
Horrified —> ofcourse
but I know It will all be Ok in the end

Thank you for writing this. I am 29 years-old and am awaiting my RA diagnosis. (I'm still waiting for my first Rheumatology appointment.) Thank you so much for putting your story out there and having such a healthy positive attitude. I saw so many similarities between your symptoms you listed and the ones I am experiencing now. I hope you keep posting and giving advise.

I was curious on what you wrote and studied about cannabis and RA.

Hi Brandy!

I am actually working on my own CBD line and will be releasing more in the next few months. I may also venture into the THC realm of things if I am granted a license in the state of Illinois. In regards to RA and cannabis the dosing is different for everyone depending on the stage of your illness, type of cannabidol you are using (THC vs CBD) and your response to cannabidols. I have found I had to do a lot of titrating and work with specific strains. I will be writing more about specifics in the future but if you have more questions feel free to shoot me an email:)
