What is CBD?
CBD (cannabidiol) is the second most common cannabinoid produced by the cannabis plant. The other more well known cannabinoid being THC. This may be confusing. Think of coffee (cannabis). You have decaf (CBD) and regular (THC). So CBD has all the benefits of the cannabis plant without the high (caffeine). It is the "decaf" version of cannabis.

Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)
You may have heard your doctor use the term "TNF" before. In short TNF is a protein in your body that causes inflammation and has been linked to other conditions such as depression, Alzheimer's, inflammatory bowel disease and cancer. Many medications that are used to treat RA are known as TNF blockers. Some of these medications are Cimzia, Humira, Enbrel, Erelzi, and Simponi. But does CBD play a role in suppressing TNF? A study done by researchers showed that CBD reduced TNF by 48% in mice. The primary purpose of this study comprised of isolating terpinoids to learn if these would effect inflammation. They discovered Terpenes alone had a minimal effect on immunosuppression but appeared to have possible benefits for minor amounts of acute inflammation. Whereas CBD exerted more long term immunosupression and inflammation relief.
